Modeling Thor’s Hammer Mjolnir

Posted by Chris Plush on Jun 21, 2017

In this step by step beginner’s tutorial you’ll learn how to model Thor’s hammer Mjolnir in Blender. We’ll be using many hard surface modeling techniques and tools as well as modifiers such as the mirror, subsurf, and array modifiers. This tutorial will hopefully soon be followed up by adding materials and rendering it in Cycles.

Download the files you’ll need for the tutorial here.

*NOTE* When using the array modifier in this tutorial, I accidentally say using “relative offset” moves it up 1 blender unit when it in fact moves the object up based on the height of the object. Just keep that in mind.

If you want to try your hand at something more challenging check out my intermediate course “Complete Vehicle Production” on creating a Jeep Wrangler inside and out, and rendering it in Cycles. You can find more info on that here.

Bevel tool is applied on edges even if they are not select, the whole cube gets a bevel, not just the selected edges.

Thanks Chris, I was using the bevel modifier. I’ve been away from Blender for a few months- It’s amazing how much you unlearn!
